2010 Woodlands Chardonnay

Margaret River 13.5% Screwcap $23

“Do you like
green eggs and ham
I do not like them,
Sam-I-am.
I do not like
green eggs and ham.
Would you like them
Here or there?
I would not like them
here or there.
I would not like them
anywhere.”

Sometimes I believe it behooves us to lash out at the idea of objectivity – a troubled concept if ever there was one. I found this wine so disappointing, so personally unsatisfying, that I’m going to criticise it even though there are no concrete flaws in the winemaking or grapes.

Sweet peach, nectarine and a little syrup assault/insult the nose. Maybe hints of passionfruit and pungency too. Very fruity – almost feels like it has some Sauvignon Blanc in there. The oak? Well there just ain’t enough of it to be of any help.

Forward, simple and flat out boring. Oh, it’s also too expensive for its chosen style. If you like this kind of kick, plenty of cheaper wines will give it to you. I do not like them Sam-I-am.
