2008 Dr Mayer Remstal Riesling

Germany, Württemberg 11.5% Vino-Lok $?

Can’t remember how much I paid for this little beauty and there is currently no web-site. But I’m sure it was worth it, if just to lose my Vino-Lok virginity :-)

There was a bit of “lemon prepared in four different ways” about this. Lemon sorbet, preserved lemons, lemon sherbet & lemons au natural. Some sweetness by the way of pears and apples. My friend even thought she detected apricot, but it all played out in an extremely convincing manner alongside thyme & suggestions of lanolin and kero. The minerality was impressive and the accompanying acid seemed softer than a lot of Australian dry Rieslings. Long finish too. Excellent wine.

It’s trocken in style. I know cos it says so on the bottle.
