2012 Lerida Estate Chardonnay

imageFrom the Canberra district. Has garnered gold at one capital city show so others have seen it differently to me. Lean, boney Chardonnay. Battery lickers gear, and only the hardcore ones at that.

There are other whispers and echoes but tart, tangy lemon and grapefruit citrus is the clearest to discern. It’s not very expressive anyway. Hard acidity (and shedloads of it) takes most the flavour out of play. No real texture or body, despite what appears to be a degree of lees and light oak. A hard slog for me and I just don’t see the rewards. 79
