2012 Byrne Family Limited Release Sangiovese

imageExpansively fruited Sangiovese from the northern end of the Clare Valley.

Moves from sweet to savoury. The former leaves the dominate impression though. Raspberry coulis and darker cherry-bramble notes merging with dried herbs, leathery tannin, aniseed and earth. Some sun-dried tomato on the nose. Rich and powerful within the paradigm of the variety. The acidity sits comfortably within the wine. It’s a little too generous and warm for my liking but I have some admiration for the architecture. 88
