2011 Bantry Grove Chardonnay

bantry grove chardonnay_2011-web-2I’m unfamiliar with Bantry Grove. Positives and negatives here. Ultimately it misses the mark but it shows enough to warrant encouragement.

Stewed pears, grapefruit and stonefruit. A little toasty oak but it’s certainly in the background. Some cinnamon/baking spice. It lacks detail but it has some length. A little phenolic traction and just a touch of undesirable warmth. At times it seems like it wants to be lean and taut, at other times it targets flavour. In the end it doesn’t quite achieve either. Greater focus and intent are called for. 87 Average – Good
