2012 Brookland Valley Margaret River Unison Chardonnay

BrooklandValley_Unison_ChardWell, the Cabernet was good. I’m not really won over by the Unison Chardonnay though. It’s very tropical and a bit too syrupy for me.

Lots of ripe stonefruit flavour with melon and lemon chiming in. The oak is prominent adding a ‘vanilla leaning into butterscotch’ edge to the wine – that’s not so much the issue though. It just feels like cheap wood. Sawdusty and raw, certainly undistinguished. It’s not a bad wine but at the price point I think it falls short of the mark. 87 Average
