2010 Kooyong Haven Pinot Noir

kooying haven 2As the name suggests, the Haven vineyard is the most sheltered site at Kooyong. These are complex and uncompromising wines but they aren’t short of fruit flavour. They just need time to unwind.

Softer acidity and some cuddly plum here to go with darker cherries and blackberry leaf. Orange zest, Asian spice and some bitter black tea leaf chime in at various points. While its firmly medium-bodied and has a velvety texture, it’s a very structured wine with appealingly assertive tannin extending the mineral finish. Strikes a pose between sensuality and cerebral poise. 94+ Excellent
