More depth, density and structure at play in the Eric Stevens Purbrick Cabernet Sauvignon as opposed to the standard release. There’s a veritable wall of tannin which needs time to sink into the wine before it’s really ready to be enjoyed…but the balance is still apparent.
Cassis, gumleaf, animal hide, cedar and sandalwood all greet the nose and are echoed on a palate which adds brown spice and red dirt. Length is excellent, all it really needs is time for the structure to relax and resolve itself. In that time it’s likely to become even more complex. Super result from a vintage that encountered both frost and fire issues. 93+ Very Good – Excellent
