Made by the team at Tyrrell’s and exclusive to Vintage Cellars. It’s a nice enough wine and an affable nature will go a long way towards making it appealing to those who don’t like the austerity of most young Hunter Semillon…but it’s no Trophy winner (it has somehow picked up two) and it has been over-rated.
Smells of limes over lemon with some of those common 2012 garden salad qualities and a healthy squeeze of passionfruit. The acidity is crisp but bedded down and balanced by a significant amount of sweetness through the mid-palate. Decent intensity and length; nothing outstanding. I wouldn’t consider it a long term prospect. The price is right if you’re in the market for this sort of wine and it may even lead a few consumers to try some more exciting versions of Semillon from the region. 88 Good

Interesting note JP. I was given the tip to pick up a bottle of this wine, and I did. But it is still awaiting me in fridge.
There’s something there to tickle the fancy of a few judges so I’d be interested where it is at. From what I can gather though, it appears to fall into the “bargain” category if you can pick it for around a tenner.
Cheers
A decent wine for a decent price in my opinion. Nothing more, nothing less. Tyson Stelzer is the only wine writer whose review I’ve seen. 91 points from him. Nowhere near that for me.
Cheers

I bought a couple of bottles. I found this to be a bit too sweet and almost sickly.
Found it hard going.
Bruce – there’s certainly some sweetness in there. I found it balanced enough but I can definitely understand your experience. I can’t see this wine pleasing lovers of classic Hunter Semillon that much.
