2010 Faisan Cabernet Sauvignon

I wasn’t taken with the Faisan Chardonnay I tasted earlier in the year but I reckon this Cabernet has a bit more going for it. It’s a dusty, medium bodied wine that will need time before we know its real worth.

Elegant and very correct stylings; blackcurrants, twiggy mulberry and cherry highlights with prominent cedar and vanillin oak. Very minty, too much so for my tastes but that will be a personal threshold issue. A bit of brown tobacco leaf and roasted capsicum too. Plenty of chalky tannin. It lacks a little length and there is the minor distraction of bitterness on the back-palate. May surprise down the track. 87+ Average – Good
