2012 Pewsey Vale Riesling

The Pewsey Vale Riesling is pretty much always a stirling wine, year in year out. Louisa Rose knows the variety and she knows her vineyard. The 2012 takes things up another notch. Complexity, precision, longevity and length are its calling cards.

It smells of limes over lemon, talc and mandarin zest with white flowers contributing to the seduction. The entry is (just) generous enough and certainly intense while purity is maintained throughout the line. Steps up a gear on the back-palate with dried herbs, agreeable adult quinine bitterness, sour apple, and (slightly saline) minerality on a chalky, pithy dry finish. It’s the real deal and a Monty for the cellar. 94+ Excellent

  1. GW says:

Such a reliable performer. Must be the best value white wine in Australia when it’s flogged round the chains for well under $20.

  2. I was thinking the same thing actually. I never pay close to the RRP of $21.99…and it would still be good value at that price I reckon.
