2010 Best’s Great Western Bin No 1 Shiraz

Ripe, concentrated and predominantly red fruited. What’s impressive is the vitality – which I suspect is related to some superb vintage conditions in 2010. Regardless, it’s another terrific Grampians Shiraz from Best’s Great Western.

Sexy yet discreet mocha and clove oak frames the cherries and raspberries. There’s a touch of aromatic minty lift as well. Slightly meaty with plenty of black pepper and brown spice permeating the other flavours. Bright acidity segues seamlessly into grippy tannin on a long finish. It’s very little wonder I love this region so much. On a slightly different note, the Grampian’s Tourism association has launched an impressive new App that’s well worth a look if you’re interested in visiting an amazing part of Victoria with an incredible vinous history. You can download it here. 93+ Very Good – Excellent

  1. Steve says:

    Terrific value isn’t it JP?
Consistency year after year is most impressive. Thanks for sharing

  2. Yep, great value Steve. Always a worthwhile wine, although I think this 2010 Bin No 1 is probably the best in a few years. Check out the Best’s Old Vine Pinot Meunier some time if you can. Smashing wine in good years; very interesting.

    Cheers
