2011 Jamsheed Harem Series Le Blanc Plonk

For someone who has arguably already made a name for himself via single vineyard Syrahs from the Yarra Valley and the Grampians, Jamsheeed winemaker Gary Mills is one hell of a blender – across varieties and regions.

The 2011 Le Blanc Plonk is predominately made up of King Valley Gewürztraminer (80%) mixed with a bit of Beechworth Roussanne and some Yarra Riesling and Chardonnay. Each component plays its part. It’s the very definition of an aromatic white; lychees, roses, ginger, lime and apples combine to form a compelling bouquet. It’s spry yet yielding in the mouth, structured so as to let the flavours roll out with grace and precision. Finishes dry and chalky with a little grip and some lingering green apple. Damn good length too at this price point. Full of interest and extremely delicious. Great to see wines like this being made in Australia. Very Good
