2011 Bespoke Bros. Heathcote Rosé

This rather spiffing wine is made by writer Nick Stock in collaboration with Gilles Lapalus of Sutton Grange fame. It’s Mourvèdre based and definitively pale in the glass.

Reminiscent of the famous Domaine Tempier Rosés of Bandol – not just in colour, but also on account of its spiced orange peel and mineral earth dimensions. There’s a textured, mellow depth apparent on the palate and an appealingly rounded mouth-feel shrouds a flinty inner drive. Red fruits and apricot kernels mingle with citrus as it works its way towards a sustained dry, savoury finish. Easily the best of a bracket of nine Rosés tasted yesterday. Very Good – Excellent

    31.95 for a rose… Fuck me!

  2. I buy the odd bottle of Tempier at around $50. Would certainly buy this at $32 if anyone in QLD stocked it.

  3. GW says:

A trip to the doctors should be about $50…when you feel the expensive Rose impulse next time, consider this. :)

  4. My doctor is sick of hearing about it :-)
