2010 Logan Hannah Rosé

Orange 13.0% Screwcap $22 Source: Sample

I tasted a lot of Rosés during the month leading up to the November 30th Rosé Revolution and quite a few on the day too…and there are still some needing to be looked at in my fridge. What surprised me wasn’t the number of dry (or sweet) Rosés made in Australia. It was the amount of profoundly boring Rosé made in this country. Wines that were sound, serviceable and perfect for my ongoing bouts of insomnia. I won’t be writing those wines up.

This wine from the Orange region in NSW was one of a few exceptions. Very pretty florals with a real sense of delicacy and grace on the palate, maintaining your interest from go to whoa. Tart cranberries, strawberries, marshmallow and a wedge of lemon. There’s a refreshing shaft of acidity at the centre of a gentle mouth feel and it does finish dry, crisp and long.

A Rosé made with intent; one that is serious and successful enough to warrant its RRP of $22.
