2002 Arras Chardonnay Pinot Noir

Tasmania 12.5% Cork $55 Source- Retail

I hadn’t tried this for a while, but it’s drinking bloody well at the moment.  It’s grown rich with layered intensity.  Toasted Brioche, honeyed notes, lemons and a bagful of nuts.  There’s some peach in there too.  The acidity is of the softer variety and the whole wine flows beautifully.  Mouth feel? Exquisite.  The bead is very fine but still vigorous.

Seapray, oyster shell and a dozen other flavours too.  But as I drank it, I felt less and less compelled to detail its profile and more inclined to just sit back and enjoy an Ed Carr masterpiece.  I think I need to save up and try the late disgorged version now.  I can only imagine how good that must be.

Arras is amazing. Getting close to NV Champagne in price but there is no questioning this is on par.

Even the new Bay of Fires Sparkling wines are really good at half the price.

I really did wonder whilst drinking this; "What's the point in cheap NV Champagne?" Of course it isn't that simple but it says a lot about the wine.

Haven't tried the new BOF wines. Will make a note of it. Thanks David

    Cheers
