2009 Heggies Riesling

Eden Valley 12.0% Screwcap $18

I’m feeling minimalist this morning. Minimalism is still poetic isn’t it?

Grapefruit, quality lime cordial and lemons. A bucket load of talc/chalk and ample acidity to balance. Very long. I probably should have enjoyed it more.

Simple purity is what young Rizza is all about, so a simple note does it no injustice. That's what is so great about this most noble grape – you can empty bottles of the stuff without thinking and then ponder on a glass and remark 'my god this is great wine'…

I'd about run out of ways to describe them! Was wondering if it was just me… :)

  3. Chris Plummer says:

Just picked up a gold medal at the Royal Adelaide. Not my favourite Heggies though

Baffling show that one! I had heard about the results and just read your rundown, thanks for posting it. Wolf Blass SV? Weird.

I thought the Heggies was a good wine and some others have rated it higher than that but it didn't excite me a lot. Might have been a "mood" thing. I'm more keen on the Best's & the Karra Yerta out of the 2009s I've tried.

But hey, I'm no show judge ;)
