2012 Yangarra Estate GSM

imageGee willikers this is very fine McLaren Vale Grenache Shiraz Mourvèdre. 54%, 18%, 12%. Rather tight on opening but after a double decant it’s far more communicative. Continued to improve over three days of tasting suggesting a bit of cellar time won’t do any harm either.

Faint floral aromatics. Notes of plums, cherries and licorice punctuated by game meats, grass clippings and sweet spice. The tannin is muscular and spread evenly throughout the palate, as is the acidity. Has a real sense of completeness and cohesion. 93
