2012 Ross Hill Pinnacle Series Cabernet Sauvignon

Pinnacle+Cabernet+SauvignonWillard: Are you crazy, Goddammit? Don’t you think it’s a little risky for some R&R?

Kilgore: If I say its safe to surf this beach, Captain, then it’s safe to surf this beach! I mean, I’m not afraid to surf this place, I’ll surf this whole fucking place!” – Apocalypse Now

It’s the Endless Summer here in Brisbane. Each morning I get up and check the seven-day forecast on my iPhone app to see if Autumn has any desire to join us in the near future. No luck so far. Good weather for surfers but I don’t surf. I taste Cabernet. The horror…the horror.

Some elegance to this offering from Ross Hill. Not a heavy wine but there are a few planks of cedary oak. The flavour manages to keep step. Roasted capsicum and blackcurrants with the odd flash of raspberry. Some menthol lift. Angular. Stood up well over a few days of tasting and should look pretty smart in five to eight years. 90+

That scene was filmed in Baler in northern Luzon, Philippines. Sat drinking San Miguel beer looking out across the beach and laughed – stupid yanks :)
