2012 Ross Hill Pinnacle Series Shiraz

ross hill shiraz 2A rather bold Shiraz from a cooler than average vintage in Orange. Plenty of rainfall too. Wild yeast fermented and matured in small French barriques for eighteen months. That toasty, cedary oak is clearly evident but in balance.

Concentrated raspberry and pepper dominate a fleshy palate and expressive nose. Dig a little deeper and you’ll find leaf, roasted capsicum and herbs. Possesses both ripeness and depth without being jammy. Acidity and tannin are in tune with the intensity of the fruit. I may personally desire a little more elegance but this has its own charm. 91
