2013 Glaetzer-Dixon Tasmania Nouveau Wine

image“My pussy tastes like Pepsi-Cola
My eyes are wide like cherry pies
I gots a taste for men who’re older
It’s always been so it’s no surprise
– Lana Del Rey

“[C]rafted in the same style as the original Beaujolais Nouveau wines in France” the back label tells me. I was probably too young to taste the ‘original’ Beaujolais Nouveaus and I’m not overly fond of ontology anyway – we all gain our inspiration from some place and time before us. Made from Pinot Noir.

Oh yes, bubblegum and red cherries pop from the glass. I get this. Bouncy, bouncy. Stemmy, mossy, meaty elements underneath to balance that preppy sweetness. It’s spicy and fresh as the proverbial ‘Daisy’ with some darker cherries and black raspberry joining the Indian spices and pepper on the palate. Smudgy, stalky tannin. Medium-bodied and gluggable. Has good reach too. Could probably handle a chill if your Autumn is as tardy as the one we’re experiencing in Brisbane. 91

Del REY Jeremy (it means literally “of the king”).

There’s always a pussy to consider as Mrs Slocombe once said.

  2. Typo fixed Michael. I’m quite obsessed by the whole construct :)

Love this wine and some of Ms Del Rey’s work.
