Perhaps the Chardonnay that exhibits the most detail in the McHenry Hohnen stable.
Regional yet restrained. Smoke and pebbles as much as fruit intensity. Line, length and subtlety. Nectarines and limes, roasted hazelnuts and cashews. For all the purity and precision there is creaminess and certain layer of funk. My note is alarmingly similar to last year’s and I think the identity of this vineyard is becoming very clear. The oak is a touch prominent at the moment. Give it a decant or time in the glass if you’d like to drink it now. 93+
