The second of the two Wrattonbully releases under the new Yalumba/Hill Smith label “Mawson’s”…and a superior wine to the Sauvignon Blanc. Beginners Cabernet Sauvignon but well made and good value.
Soft, slightly shallow fruits; cassis mostly with a little plum. Menthol and its variants, scorched peanuts, some herbaceousness, bitter chocolate and red capsicum. Cedary oak is downplayed. Lacks a little finesse with the acidity a touch nervy. Long strand, chalky tannin. 88
