2011 Luke Lambert Sparkling Chardonnay

luke lambert scBeautifully packaged and rather fascinating yet I’m not totally sold.

Aromas of apple cider, washed rind cheese, nuts and chicken stock. It isn’t a fruity wine and despite the use of oak, complete wild fermentation and 100% malo it seems as much angular as it does textural. There are suggestions of peach fuzz but it’s more sour lemon, brine and pith on the palate. A touch of spice. Has a kind of oxidative character that some will love and others will shy away from. 91
