The old, trusty Deutz NV. Widely available for around the twenty-dollar mark and a crowd-pleaser at heart. 60% Chardonnay, 34% Pinot Noir and 6% Pinot Meunier with three years spent on lees.
Typical house-style honeyed nut richness and autolysis derived depth and complexity. Golden and toasty with brioche, red berries and citrus forming an opulent amalgam. The 10.7g/l residual sugar is at home within the setting. No phenolics and a softness in the mouth. Plenty of width and flavour. It may or may not be your cup of tea but the execution is good. 88
