Graciano has a big future in both McLaren Vale and the Barossa. It’s ability to maintain acidity and offer loads of character make it perfectly suited to these warmer climes. I believe this is the first time Cascabel have released it as a varietal wine rather than blending it with Tempranillo.
Serve this in a big glass and give it a lot of air. It has a lot to offer. Blackberry, redcurrants, orange peel and clove-spiced oak. It has flesh but the grape’s strong acid uppercut keeps everything on a narrow set of rails. Long, fine-grained tannin stretches its legs on the finish. I like the flavours, I like the architecture…in fact I like the whole package. 93
