These Tempranillos were tasted single blind over the course of a day. The Caló came out on top. Half of it spends three months in seasoned American and French oak while the other 50% is matured in one year old 225 litre French oak barrels. That regime seems to work a treat, contributing structure without losing the vibrancy of fruit flavour. Imported by Fourth Wave Wine.
Plump red cherries, softer dark brambly characters, vanilla cola, black spice and a hint of leather. Good fruit weight and intensity, textured and assertive tannin along with a persistent and savoury finish. Dead set bargain. 92
