2013 De Bortoli La Boheme Act One Riesling

La Boheme Act 1 RieslingA new La Boheme Act One from De Bortoli to replace the old Semillon Sauvignon Rolle blend. While the label reads as Riesling there’s 11% Gewürztraminer and Pinot Gris in the mix. An inversion of the Act Three Pinot Gris and Friends, it could also be considered as a different take on the De Bortoli Reserve EZ. I’m enjoying De Bortoli’s experimentation with white blends immensely.

Smells of Schweppes Lime Cordial, white flowers and rose petals, lychees, pears, ginger and pepper spice with a dash of bath salts in the mix. Alluring aromatics and the palate follows suit, displaying a gentle lilt of sweetness (10g/l rs) which rounds out the fine acid. The finish is close enough to dry and has a cleansing mineral quality. Sapid, long and fascinatingly textural. 92
