The third consecutive vintage of Stephen Pannell’s Tempranillo Touriga to provide unbridled pleasure. The blend and the way in which it is handled simply works. Grapes come from McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek. It’s medium-bodied with savoury edges and lithe form balancing sweeter fruit stuffing.
A bouquet of lavender and violets with raspberry, dusty black spice, sarsaparilla root and baked clay. Some plummy depth on the palate which is kissed lightly by mocha oak. The acidity is fine and segues wonderfully into sandy tannin. A wine of true balance and poise. Exotic yet it should have wide appeal…and the value is sky-high. 94

Can’t wait to try this. The 2011 version was one of the best SA reds from the vintage IMO.
I concur Rich. Think this is a step up again but it may just be a matter of taste. Either way we all win.
Just tried it. Great tasting notes Jeremy.
Steve said it’s picked up a Trophy at Melbourne and was in the mix for the Jimmy Watson (which The Lane Blk 14 Shiraz may have won…)
Thanks. It would have been a worthy winner of the Jimmy. Happy to hear it fared well.
