2012 MadFish Sauvignon Blanc Semillon

madfish sav semFor the uninitiated, MadFish are one of the sub-labels in the Burch Family Wines stable probably best known for their generally excellent Howard Park wines. It gets complicated if I try to go into it any further than that. The 2012 Sauvignon Blanc Semillon is made up of 60% and 40% of the respective varieties with fruit coming from the Margaret River, the Great Southern and Pemberton.

The wine smells a bit sweaty and pungent. Grass and herbs over citrus with passionfruit and melon riding shotgun. It’s a touch diffuse and attenuated bringing to mind over-cropping. Whether or not that was the case is pure speculation. I’d be serving it chilled and slamming it down without much thought. For that purpose it fits the bill. 86
