2010 Pizzini King Valley Nebbiolo

Almost a beauty. Almost. Give it time in the glass or bottle to get the most from it. Five to eight years in a cool, dark place should help.

It’s tarry and red fruited with a gorgeous set of commanding tannins. A depth of cherry/berry stuffing, pouch tobacco, dried herbs, licorice, stressed leather and aftershave. Has some less desirable boiled red lolly characters which do detract somewhat. It doesn’t take long to coax red florals out. Plenty of fruit length too despite the tannin – it spills over. By day three it looked good. I’m going into bat for it. 91+
