2010 Chandon Vintage Brut

chandon vintage brutChandon’s Vintage Brut is looking particularly smart this year. The best expression I’ve seen since at least the 2006 vintage. It’s fresh, pristine and quite delicious. Grapes were sourced from the Yarra Valley, the King Valley, the Strathbogie ranges and other cool regions. A blend of 50.1% Pinot Noir, 44.4% Chardonnay and 5.5% Pinot Meunier.

The emphasis is firmly on the high quality fruit and a fine and invigorating line of acidity with autolytic notes of croissant in the background. Sliced green apples, white flowers, spiced red berry traits and a touch of lemon curd. The Pinot provides some body. Gentle nutty characters on the back-palate. Lovely mouthfeel, no sharp edges. Lots of chalky, dry length (5.5g/l rs). I ended up drinking quite a few glasses of this and enjoyed them immensely. 93
