2012 Garagiste Merricks Chardonnay

image

It may lack an x-factor but gosh there’s a lot of good things to be said about this Garagiste Merricks Chardonnay made by Barnaby Flanders. The fruit clarity is excellent, the oak in perfect harmony and the hint of lees welcome.

Lime, pear and nectarine kissed by toasty nougat oak. Nothing too obvious or crass. Very pure and precise with an admirable line and just a little salty tang. Cool climate charm with flavour. Speaks eloquently and with purpose. 92
