2010 Tahbilk Old Vines Cabernet Shiraz

image

Tahbilk made their first Cabernet Shiraz blend in 1972 but this label is the new kid on the block. It should probably come with the warning “Not Suitable for the Eucalypt Intolerant” but otherwise it’s a very good wine which will no doubt improve with age.

Plums and spiced oak are the main players. Nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon. A lick of vanilla. It’s not a beast of a wine by any means. Apart from the eucalypt the balance is bang on. Lots of long strand, grainy tannin. Another honest Tahbilk red that should please the faithful. Feel free to add a point if you love Koalas. 92+
