Always happy to see more wines from Geographe, Western Australia cross the tasting bench. I don’t mind Chenin as a variety either although I think we’ve still got a lot of work to do in order to get the most out of it in Australia.
This is very much in the genial, fruity entry-level mode but with a little barrel work in used French oak to provide texture. Smells of apple skins, oxidised pear, florals and some tropical fruits. Hints of ozone and herbs. Tastes dry. Not overly dynamic on the palate. Some brown spice and woody phenolics to close. Gluggable. 86
