Winemaker Corrina Wright has been championing this Campanian variety in McLaren Vale for a few years now. It’s a grape that deserves a place within the region and the Oliver’s Taranga version is almost always amongst the best renditions.
The 2013 is intensely nutty with citrus rind, honeysuckle, smashed apple and a hint of guava carrying the flavours. It’s around medium-bodied and rolls out well with plenty of textural wrinkles included for extra interest. Has that briney finish that I find so satisfying in Vale Fianos. What’s not to like? 92
