A similar assemblage of grapes to past releases of José the Rosé. Syrah and Pinot with a dash of Chardonnay and maybe something else as well. Don’t think Frankenstein, think playfulness and pleasure. Eight months on lees and some barrel work.
A deeper coloured expression of the style. Has body and texture but no heaviness or stickiness. It ain’t no wallflower. Plentiful fresh strawberries, orange citrus, gingerbread and ginger beer with hints of stonefruit and herbs. Just the right amount of acidity to allow it all to flow. Creamy in the mouth but moreish with that acidity back in the driver’s seat come the finish. It’s a wine I’ve always enjoyed and the 2012 version is no exception. 91
