While the 2008 Fox Creek Reserve Shiraz didn’t ring my bells I have some respect for this wine. It’s not something I’d buy for myself but within its chosen paradigm it’s well made.
Plenty of clove and vanilla/coffee oak but the powerful currant, rum and raisin fruit is up to the task. It doesn’t feel flat or lifeless and I think the cool vintage has worked to its advantage in this regard. Some tasty pepper spice, milk chocolate, plums and black licorice. A touch of salinity. Smooth with ripe tannin and plenty of persistence. If this sounds like your type of wine then you could probably add a point or two to my score. For the record, all the bling on the bottle shot is from the 2008 but the label is the same. 91
