2012 Coriole Barbera

coriole barberaFunnily enough, I actually preferred the 2011 Coriole Barbera to this 2012. Still, it’s a good wine. Region and variety are both clearly expressed.

Structured primarily by acidity as is usually the case with the grape. Lots of it too and it takes a little while to settle down – but it when it does the wine’s very refreshing. There’s sweet red fruits, darker brambly notes and suggestions of oregano and sage. With time it moves in a more savoury direction and some almond skin tannin becomes apparent. Good food wine. 90
