2011 Chapel Hill Shiraz

chapel hill shirazA pretty polished release from 2011. It was wet and cool in many (but not all) regions in case you didn’t know.

Rich chocolate oak sheathes the cool vintage acidity but there’s still animation here. Dark brambly fruits and quite a lot of mixed spice. A touch lighter in body than past releases with a mouthfeel that sits somewhere between silk and velvet. It is quite earthen and there’s perhaps a slight hint of swampiness but it drinks well anyway. Has a bit of length going for it too. 90
