Xavier Bizot and Lucy Croser’s seven hectare close-planted vineyard lies directly next door to the Tapanappa Whalebone vineyard in Wrattonbully, South Australia. The Cabernet Sauvignon vines were planted in 2004. Low fruiting wire is utilised – only 50cm above ground.
This is classy Cabernet, make no mistake. It’s packed with rich Cassis flavour and structured by vibrant acidity and laudable long strand tannin which stretches its legs on an extended finish. Cigar leaf, toasted spice and herbs alongside significant earthiness with cedar/chocolate oak prominent but in balance. Improved over three days tasting and certainly looks like it deserves a decent stint in the cellar. 93+

Certainly not green – no overt leafiness. I really enjoyed the ripeness here actually. Terrific tannin structure as well.

These TaT wines are worth following I think. We’re selling the Pinot and it’s very good/serious for the price point.
I haven’t tried the Pinot yet but I liked the Sauvignon Blanc (which was a big hit at a public tasting I attended in Brisbane). Some impressive results from young vines. Will be very interesting to see what they produce over the next five to ten years I think.
