2012 Fraser Gallop Estate Parterre Chardonnay

fraser gallop estate parterre chardonnayThe follow-up to the highly acclaimed 2011 Fraser Gallop Estate Parterre Chardonnay is a more fine-boned affair. Greater restraint and increased elegance yet the intensity remains undeniable. This is the Chablis of the Margaret River. Did I really just write that?

Aromas of orange blossom, pear, grapefruit and nectarine. Clean lines, great clarity. Oak seems dialled down, imparting the most subtle notes of cashew, almond and (ginger) spice while cushioning the impact of a driving mineral spine. A little satisfying phenolic traction to conclude matters. Grace personified with length to burn. 94 Excellent

Jeremy – nice review, I find myself nodding in agreement. I liked this even more than you. In quality terms, I think this is up there with the best of the region. In terms of value, I’m not sure it has a regional Chardonnay peer.

Would you care to speculate on drinking window?

    Cheers

  3. Thanks GP. It definitely offers a hell of a lot of value – and you can usually find it for less than the price listed.

I think I’d just be guessing when it comes to a drinking window. I’ve laid some of this and the 2011 down to see how they go over time but I’ve never tasted a Fraser Gallop Chardonnay with any real age so I’m not sure. I can’t see it falling over in the next five years minimum but wine can make a fool of you.
