Harking back to Andrew Thomas’ roots in McLaren Vale and perhaps also to a time when Vale Shiraz used to find its way into more than a few multiregional Australian Shirazes, this contains 57% Hunter Valley fruit with the rest from McLaren Vale.
Mulberry, plum and raspberry, milk chocolate, earthy spice, tar and a few scattered brown leaves. Hints of licorice too. Medium bodied with open-weave tannin. Doesn’t have the depth or length of the other Thomas Wines 2011 reds but it rates high on drinkability. 89 Good

Motel Block went into the Hunter portion according to Andrew – wasn’t good enough for single vineyard release. Did you try the DJV?

I managed to misplace the DJV and only just found it then. Shame as I wanted to taste them together but I’ll take a look at it in the next few days.
