2011 Thomas Two of a Kind Shiraz

thomas two of a kindHarking back to Andrew Thomas’ roots in McLaren Vale and perhaps also to a time when Vale Shiraz used to find its way into more than a few multiregional Australian Shirazes, this contains 57% Hunter Valley fruit with the rest from McLaren Vale.

Mulberry, plum and raspberry, milk chocolate, earthy spice, tar and a few scattered brown leaves. Hints of licorice too. Medium bodied with open-weave tannin. Doesn’t have the depth or length of the other Thomas Wines 2011 reds but it rates high on drinkability. 89 Good

Region: Hunter Valley, McLaren Vale
Alcohol: 13.5%
Closure: Screwcap
Price: $24
Tasted: April 2013

  1. Michael Charles says:

Motel Block went into the Hunter portion according to Andrew – wasn’t good enough for single vineyard release. Did you try the DJV?

  2. I managed to misplace the DJV and only just found it then. Shame as I wanted to taste them together but I’ll take a look at it in the next few days.
