2011 Le Chat Noir Minervois vieilles vignes Syrah Mourvèdre

le chat syrah mataroMinervois is an appellation that sits in the western part of the Languedoc-Roussillon wine region of southern France. This is a blend of 90% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre sourced from bush vines aged between 79 and 82 years of age.

A no-brainer at the price. Not much above medium-bodied with personality and well matched flavours. Dark cherries, redcurrants, rocks, pan juices and smoke. Ironstone and pepper too. Loose knit tannin, settled acidity. Supple through the front and midpalate, finishing with pepper spice. Highly recommended. 92 Very Good
