The 2008 release of this fared very well despite the warm year but the 2010 takes things to a whole new level. When you visit Yangarra it’s impossible not to be struck by how much cooler it feels than much of McLaren Vale. It seems to be more a part of the Adelaide Hills to be honest.
This is a muscular and masculine wine with depth, intensity and presence but it’s tight and refined at the same time. Almost a wine of contradictions – which just adds to the appeal and intrigue. It’s delineated and precise at every turn. Black cherries with red fruited glimmers, ferrous earth, clove spiced oak, milk chocolate, coffee grounds and purple flowers. As with all these Yangarra wines there is no alcohol heat to be found. Firm and assured tannic closure. Will live an eternity. 94+ Excellent
