We’ve got another winner in the sub $20 sweepstakes here. A Grenache, Mourvèdre, Shiraz blend from Geographe of all places. 65%, 25% and 15% respectively.
Rich sweet purple berries on entry (not auto-suggestion) with some red and dark cherry fruits and hushed tones of plum. Grilled meats, ferrous earth and loads of complex spice on a fleshy, pulpy palate packaged by fine but assertive tannin. There’s certainly some warmth and I feel that if that were tamed the wine would be even better again. You’d never mistake it for a Barossa or McLaren Vale GMS even if some of the descriptors sound familiar. It’s a different mix and an entirely alternative expression. Value is excellent. 90 Good
