If you aren’t enamoured with the leaner style of Australian Chardonnay that is currently in vogue and are seeking a more lavish and voluptuous approach at an affordable price then you could do worse than this effort from Montalto. It’s ripe but there’s not too much warmth and a sense of form is maintained.
Ample weight, especially through the midpalate with melon and stonefruits being the main players. Has a touch of sourdough on the nose and some toast and spice action as well. The acidity isn’t the finest but it does the job. A hint of bitterness on the finish but nothing overly distracting. 89 Good
