Another success story from a troubled vintage. They are out there, and they’re a testament to the skills of the viticulturist and winemaker (Drew Tuckwell). Or sometimes just indicative of an appropriately situated site.
Spicy and savoury with plenty of lively, vivid berry/cherry fruit backed by classy cedary oak. Acidity has a hint of tartness and the tannins are fine as fine can be. A little leaf matter and a slightly bitter herbal character mark the season but this is really lovely, medium-bodied and angular cool climate Shiraz. It has finesse and poise. 91 Good – Very Good

I often see this reviewed around and feel compelled to try and put together a cricket themed tasting. This, maybe Jim Barry’s Cover Drive…sure there’s a few others out there.
Brokenwood’s Cricket Pitch, Wirra Wirra’s The 12th Man Chardonnay. Could, nay should be done. Maybe an Ashes project. Supporters of the Australian cricket team will need to have a glass nearby…
