After the ripe and approachable 2009 vintage in Beaujolais I find it quite appealing to get back to a structural creature like this. It’s awash with what feels like natural acidity and has plenty of rugged, grippy tannin. Nowhere near ready to drink yet but the promise is clear.
Black cherries and raspberry fruits, pepper and other spices, blue/purple floral perfume and a bit of meatiness as it opens up. Maybe even some field mushrooms. Stony minerality and great persistence. Stash some. 92+ Very Good
